A new expedition to the Camino de Santiago by the Por Una Sonrisa Association breaks solidarity records. “The best thing is that we have achieved something more than last year, with small contributions from many people who have contributed their grain of sand“, transfers David Garciaowner of Antrocafé Path, After the pilgrimage to Santiago, an initiative that is being resumed to donate the money raised to the Barreña association against childhood cancer.
“We have now finished our pilgrimage to Santiago. We have to say that we have beaten our record for the Por Una Sonrisa project. We have received more contributions and at the same time we have given visibility to the project.“, said García, who will present the money raised to the association, on behalf of the five pilgrims who have accompanied him on the adventure, at an event to be held shortly. In addition, he announced that he is already preparing for next year, an initiative that has become an annual tradition for the Algeciras native.
This year the path taken has been Portuguese, from Tui to Santiago“In principle there are six stages, but we, who believe ourselves to be very strong, did the first two in one, 37 kilometres,” specifies the owner of Senda, who adds, “some may think it is not that much, but the climbs and descents, without having trained, were a pain.”
Surely some will wonder, How did this beautiful adventure begin? David Garcia tells us about it 8Directo: “It all started with a project to do the Camino alone, with the sole purpose of disconnecting from the routine. A cousin of mine who lives in Sanlúcar and had the same plan joined in, then the Neva brothers, rocieros from Sanlúcar, and we met on the same road. This year there are two more, Francis, from Seville, and Pigui, from Sanlúcar.” The group assures that they arrive in Santiago with great satisfaction and trying to support the children as much as possible and finding themselves..
And this adventure is already characterized by its charitable purposes. Every year they donate the money raised to the Por Una Sonrisa Association. During the tour they carry out straight and they go handing out gifts donated by their followers and participants, as well as dinners, t-shirts, mugs, stays in rural houses, among others. They broadcast their experiences during the itinerary through social networks, which also makes their followers complicit, who accompany them every step of the way online.
Among the moments that will remain in the retina of these pilgrims is a comforting message from a girl admitted to the Hospital of Jerez who contacted the group: “A little girl from the Hospital of Jerez sent us an audio, together with her parents, thanking us for the journey… That is our red bull, that these pilgrims have a nice weekend“.
Solidarity, uniony aventurathe three pillars that make up the annual pilgrimage to Camino de Santiago, for a smile.
