The cadets of the Military Academy will solemnly swear to serve the state of Lithuania

As the academy announced, 81 cadets will swear to serve Lithuania, including 13 girls. The solemnly sworn cadets will continue their studies at the Lithuanian Military Academy.

The Speaker of the Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense, the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Lithuanian Military Academy, marksmen, academy soldiers, employees, parents and relatives of the sworn cadets, and other distinguished guests will participate in the ceremony on Wednesday.

Continuing the traditions, the right to kiss the flag of the academy on behalf of all sworn cadets will be given to the best cadet of the course, chosen by the commanders and instructors, after the freshmen have completed the eleven-week cadet basic military course at the training regiment of the Great Lithuanian Hetman Jonuš Radvila in Rukla.

During the course, cadets get to know the structure and statutes of the Lithuanian army, and acquire the basic theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for studying at the Academy.

The Lithuanian Military Academy is the only higher education institution in Lithuania that provides university and military education. It prepares officer leaders who are ready to lead units of the Lithuanian army in times of war and peace.
