In The Cactus, Jérôme de Warzée returns to the new revelations concerning the Walloon Parliament and its clerk. Seventy-four thousand euros in restaurant costs, two thousand in taxi costs even though he had two company cars, two thousand five hundred in toll fees for his second residence in France, revelations which are shocking when we know that one in four children lives below the poverty line in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
But for Jérôme, Walid, Fanny and Ophélie the cube is a bit like the clerk of the Walloon Parliament : he only works seven days a year, and it brings him eight million. And this while telling you “yes, but look, I’m transparent”. Of course the big difference is that the cube redistributes the money. If only the clerk had donated every time he was at the restaurant…
In some restaurants, there is talk of a bill of up to 3190 euros because the clerk paid for everyone. This situation must inspire us, explains Jérôme de Warzée “instead of collecting donations to allow the most deprived to eat their fill, wouldn’t we advise them to try to all go to the restaurant at the same time as Frédéric Janssens, saying ‘it’s his tour’? Listen, with 3190 euros, at the ‘Chez Thierry’ chip shop in Bertrix, we treat 1500 people with that.”
Jérôme de Warzée cannot help but think regarding what the Walloon Parliament might bring to the Viva for Life cube : “I think that’in one week, we annihilated povertybut we also have the opportunity to finance associations in need, youth centers, restaurants of the heart, the Standard de Liège”.
And to close his Cactus, Jérôme gives one last piece of advice to Cathy Immelen who travels across Wallonia to sell Santa hats: “go through the Walloon and European parliaments, Cathy, big guys earn more !”
The new edition of Viva for Life is launched to remind us that poverty continues to grow and endanger the development, health and well-being of 80,000 children in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. More than ever, we are counting on you.
