Fight once morest terrorism: the Burkinabè government calls on combatants to join the reintegration center
Ouagadougou, August 02, 2022 (AIB) – The government has called on citizens enlisted in armed terrorist groups to join the dialogue process launched by President Paul Damiba and to join the care center to facilitate their reintegration.
“For a peaceful and prosperous Burkina Faso, the Minister of State – in charge of National Reconciliation – invites (…) fellow citizens enrolled in armed groups, to seize the opportunity of this outstretched hand with a view to their social reintegration” , wrote Minister Yéro Boly in a press release dated July 28, 2022.
The Minister of State refers to the dialogue process launched by the President of Faso, Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Damiba and to the local dialogue committees created for this purpose.
Mr. Boly invited ex-combatants to join the support center for people wishing to voluntarily lay down their arms.
“He also invites families with their children in armed groups to bring them the message and convince them to join the dialogue process,” the statement added.
As a reminder, Burkina Faso has suffered for six years in several of its localities, regular terrorist attacks which killed several hundred people, caused the displacement of nearly 2 million others and led to the closure of thousands of schools and centers health.
To restore order and peace, President Damiba, who arrived in office on January 24, 2022, is banking on dialogue with the country’s children involved in armed groups and the continuation of the military offensive once morest radical fighters.
