yaLisbon, the Portuguese capital, has been voted the cheapest European city to visit and live in. The findings came from a survey conducted by ABTA, an association of travel agents and tour operators. Out of 35 European cities, Lisbon has been voted the most budget-friendly city in Europe.
Lithuanian capital Vilnius, Polish city Krakow and Athens (Greece) are in second, third and fourth place. The list has been compiled by evaluating the costs of intra-city travel, two days’ stay in a three-star hotel, one dinner including two wines, etc.
Lisbon, the capital and largest city of Portugal, is also a very popular city for tourists. St. George’s Castle, Belem Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Jerominos Monastery, Lisbon Oceanarium with Europe’s largest indoor aquarium, and the Ancient Art Museum with over 40,000 rare works of art are here.
Other highlights of the city of Lisbon include tranquil beaches, diverse cuisine, great culture and lifestyle. A Lisbon trip will also be enriched by many historical monuments that have been pivotal in world history. Inexpensive public transport systems to get around the city make getting around Lisbon even easier. Spring and autumn are the busiest times for tourists in Lisbon.
