According to the third edition of the Retraite.com/Silver Alliance barometer, produced with the Ministry of Solidarity, Autonomy and Disabled People for Le Parisien, people over the age of 65 must now pay an average of 1,164 euros per month. , or 13,971 euros per year, to age with dignity at home.
For 65-75 year olds, the monthly cost is now 645 euros, compared to 583 euros in 2021, which represents an increase of 10.83%. “Between 65 and 75, transport costs (+ 24%) and health (+ 5,11%) remain the leading items of expenditure and are experiencing a sharp increase”, say the authors of the study. This age group, which is still very mobile, is particularly affected by the increase in fuel prices.
More than 85% of retirees want to age in place
The 75-85 year olds must spend 827 euros per month, once morest 748 euros last year, an increase of 10.5%. “Between 75 and 85, health is still the main item of expenditure, with rising mutual insurance rates”, indicates the barometer. Costs for home services, such as meal delivery or cleaning, are higher for this age category.
Finally, the costs are even higher for the over 85s. They must count on average 2,020 euros monthly, once morest 1,939 euros in 2021, an increase of 4%. “From the age of 85, dependency and access to supportive care (home services, night care) become the first item of expenditure”, details the study. Among the 15 million retirees in France, more than 85% want to age at home.
