Mari Selvaraj movie ‘Mamannan’ continues to trend on Netflix and social media. After the OTT release of the film, Fahadh Faasil who came in as the villain is getting more attention and problems than the hero Udayanidhi Stalin. The film started streaming on Netflix on July 27. The film is currently in the top 10 list of Netflix in 9 countries.

Fahadh Faasil’s role as Ratnavel was widely celebrated but also met with criticism. Actress and director Lakshmi Ramakrishnan’s comment about the violence in the film is now gaining attention. Lakshmi took to Twitter to say that although the movie is good, the brutality shown on the screen made it difficult for her.

In the words of Lakshmi Ramakrishna:

Mamannan saw. Another great film from Mari Selvaraj. The brutality visualized on the screen bothered me. But apart from that, there are parts in the film that survive it all. Moments that stopped even my heart beating. Udayanidhi’s best performance till date. Mamannan and Amma were awesome. It seemed Keerthy Suresh was not in the best form.

I also liked the character of the villain’s wife. I felt that Mari Selvaraj was able to say what she wanted to say with clarity. Vadivelu lived a wealthy life. I forgot that he is a legend while watching the film and only Mamannan was seen. Fahadh is a great actor. This role is an easy one for him. But I doubt if the dubbing is right.

At the same time, the actress also responded to the person who criticized her for talking about violence. “I have always raised my voice against the prevalence of violence on screen. But I’m not one to judge. I just said my opinion. The audience decides what to watch. Lately I don’t say anything about films that don’t have some subversive elements,” Lakshmi replied.
