The bodies were taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Palermo and the Rotoli cemetery for autopsies as part of the investigation by the Termini Imerese prosecutor’s office into shipwreck and multiple manslaughter. The office led by prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio questioned the survivors, starting with commander James Cutfield, and acquired elements on the alleged chain of errors that caused the sinking.
