A video of a wedding in Hubei province, China on January 8 has been described as “the most awkward party ever” online, because the clip captures the atmosphere at a wedding table with 5 man, on which was written “Ex-lover’s desk”.
Upon reading this information, many netizens praised the groom for being “good at enduring” when the bride invited a series of ex-boyfriends to the wedding and even shared a tray.
Specifically, a Chinese bride invited her ex-boyfriend to her wedding reception and set up a separate table for them. This created a lively discussion on social media. Although sitting together seems to be very harmonious, the 5 boys seem to share the same feelings when sometimes being uncomfortable, shy and out of tune with the bustling atmosphere of the wedding. Some sources also revealed that the two women sitting at the same table are also the current wives of the bride’s ex-boyfriend.
“Inviting your ex to your wedding party and having them attend is quite a bold thing,” wrote one netizen on Douyin.
“Hats off to the bride for helping reunite these long-lost ‘brothers’,” another joked regarding the boys’ similar shy faces, “I think I can imagine What does the groom look like?”
The party table of the “ex-boyfriend association” caused a stir in the online community
Another netizen commented, “You think the bride has many exes, but she’s actually very loyal in love relationships.”
While some consider it disrespectful to the groom and family to invite an ex-boyfriend to the wedding, others think it’s normal, nothing too serious.
Another Douyin account said: “The groom has to accept the situation, otherwise he will later sit at the same table with his ex-boyfriends.”
This is not the first time that the table of an ex-lover at a wedding party has caused a stir in China. In June 2022, a viral video online showed nine men in Guangdong province (China) all sitting at the “ex-boyfriend table” and then holding a sign that read “All boyfriends”. ex wishes Ting a happy wedding” to celebrate their ex-girlfriend’s big day. However, the poster later said it was a joke, explaining that the nine men were childhood friends of the bride.
