The Breton ball takes Anthony Le Béan from Plouhinec to Detroit – Plouhinec (56)

Aged 37, Anthony Le Béan has been playing Breton boules for 25 years. A member of the Lanester club, this Plouhinecois never misses an opportunity to practice his favorite discipline, playing every weekend and sometimes even during the week. For him, the year 2022 has been particularly rich, he takes stock of it.

The Roland Garros of Breton ball

“Last April, I won, individually, the Morbihan championship which took place in Lanester. At the beginning of August, in Guingamp in the Côtes d’Armor, I took part in three major Breton boules competitions which we consider to be the Roland Garros of our discipline. I am the first to have won these competitions, individually, in doubles and in quads. About 600 players were present during these three days. From July 18 to 25, with another bowler, we represented France at the international raffa volo tournament in Detroit, United States. We finished seventh out of ten teams”.

A sports discipline to promote

Anthony would like the Breton ball to be better recognized in Brittany. “It’s a traditional discipline in our region, which my father introduced me to when I was a child. We are 500 licensees in Morbihan, a little more in Côtes-d’Armor and we play on suitable grounds. But very few municipalities are equipped,” he regrets.
