LONDON (ots/PRNewswire) – The “Yes! “Another vegan” campaign takes the stereotypical reaction to the announcement of a vegan lifestyle and makes it our own: the eye roll
When The Body Shop announces today that it is the world’s first global beauty brand* to offer 100% vegan product formulations across all areas, including skin care, body care, hair care, makeup and fragrance, millions of eyes around the world will be roll. The entire product portfolio has been certified by the Vegan Society.** The pioneering beauty retailer has achieved the ambitious goal it set for itself in 2021, when 60% of its products already bore the Vegan Society seal.
The Body Shop was also the first beauty retailer to launch a campaign once morest animal testing for cosmetics in 1989 because of its belief that animals should not be abused for beauty. As the fight for a global ban on animal testing in cosmetics continues, a fully vegan range represents The Body Shop’s next milestone in cruelty-free beauty.
The vegan cosmetics industry is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 6.31% between 2023 and 2028, reaching $24 billion by 2028[1]. With more than one in ten young people saying that “vegan” is an important factor in their health and beauty purchasing decisions[2]The Body Shop is also taking the growing demands of its customers into account with this step.
The Vegan Society represents the global gold standard in vegan product certification across multiple industries and is a trusted seal of approval for The Body Shop products. The certification process for obtaining the seal is carried out extremely carefully and every supplier and manufacturer of raw materials within the product catalog is meticulously checked. For The Body Shop, this meant that over 4,000 ingredients for more than 1,000 products had to be validated in order to carry the seal.
Ian Bickley, Managing Director of The Body Shop, commented: “We did it! Every single product formulation from The Body Shop is now certified by The Vegan Society. We know that vegan beauty products are important to millions of people around the world. Therefore, we have worked tirelessly to achieve this major milestone. We were the first cosmetics company to fight once morest animal testing in cosmetics. We were the first major global cosmetics brand to use cruelty-free musk in our perfumes. Now we have achieved another global first.”
Director of Business Development at The Vegan Society, Chantelle Adkins, said: “We would like to congratulate The Body Shop today on having 100% of their product formulations vegan and certified with The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark. This was a huge project for the company and shows its commitment and enthusiasm for vegan cosmetics. We hope this important step will set a global standard for other cosmetics brands and inspire further change to reduce the use and exploitation of animals across the industry.”
The marketing campaign playfully addresses a common reaction when someone mentions the V-word: eye rolling.
*In December 2023, The Vegan Society named The Body Shop the first global cosmetics brand to achieve 100% vegan product formulations certified by The Vegan Society.
**As of December 2023, all of The Body Shop’s current product formulations are certified by The Vegan Society. Old, discontinued recipes that have not been certified by The Vegan Society may still be available in stores until they are sold out.
