The body map you should know – 2024-07-17 00:49:33

Our thoughts define situations and decisions in our lives. It is worth having good thoughts, and better with positive emotions than negative ones, because we must visualize what we want for our lives, but we are rarely told how to do it and why these tips can bring fruits to our existence.

It is similar to living in a place, in a geography that we do not know, because it is unsettling to leave the house and not know in which direction to go to the park, to the store, or to the exit of the condominium. A similar situation occurs with many of us who do not know the parts of our body and what each of them represents.

Let’s start by introducing two cousins that live in your brain, the thalamus and the hypothalamus. The former is responsible for receiving most sensory signals – except for olfactory ones. That means everything you see, hear, touch and taste is scanned by it, while the hypothalamus monitors body temperature, circadian rhythms and influences emotional and sexual behavior, largely through its connection to the limbic system, and a key function is that it controls the release of hormones through its influence on the pituitary gland.

The thalamus transmits sensory and motor information that can influence the homeostatic (balance) and endocrine responses of the hypothalamus, and this is where the pituitary gland appears, which is definitive in this scheme, since it is responsible for producing the hormones (chemicals) that, according to the sensory report, you will need, depending on the situation you are experiencing: sadness, joy, frustration, annoyance or others. Now you better understand why what you think or feel impacts your life.

The hormones released by the pituitary gland have a destination—your cells, your body—and the hypothalamus produces messengers called neuropeptides, which will be formed according to those emotions that you generated, at that moment in time.

Now you can evaluate whether it is worth continuing to be at odds with your neighbor, cursing in traffic, not speaking to your partner for several days, getting upset because it started raining and you went out without an umbrella, or being bitter because a sauce stain left its mark on the blouse you were wearing at the restaurant where you had lunch.

Knowing a part of our map should serve to improve the quality of thought and impact emotions and send messages that maintain a dynamic cell. Let us take care of our thoughts, remembering that the most dangerous viruses first penetrate the mind.

“Let’s take care of our thoughts, let’s remember that the most dangerous viruses enter through the mind.”
