Other disadvantages include exposed sensors and wiring, as well as a minimum of anti-corrosion coating. At the same time, Changan engineers managed to design the car so that there were no protruding parts from below. Suspension elements are made of two-layer steel, and the architecture is the same as that of the old Toyota Highlander: McPherson struts in front, three-link in the back.
Bloggers noted that Changan did not reinvent the wheel and somewhat copied Toyota’s solutions, and for greater reliability, the Uni-K is equipped with a proven Aisin automatic transmission and a BorgWarner clutch. Many Chinese automakers go down this path because it’s easier and cheaper than designing an entire car from scratch.
