Brazil: Plane crash – The scenarios that the authorities are considering

According to Brazilian media, the website Flightradar24, which records the flights of most airlines, shared data including an active ice warning between 12,000 and 21,000 feet in the area at the time of the crash.

The aeronaut, Celso Faria de Souza, an air accident expert and head of the Brazilian Aviation Safety Association, confirmed that, judging by photographs of the aircraft, he would expect to find ice that could have formed on its wings.

Ice could have formed on the wings of the fatal aircraft, while it appears that the wing de-icing system for some reason did not work. According to the expert, this case has a 95% chance of being confirmed as the cause of the accident.

Before the crash, the pilot who flew from Guarulhos on Friday reported ice forming on the window. According to him, this was not something common, but the first time it had happened to him in his 16 years of experience.

At the same time, the plane’s black box was found in the wreckage search. The data from the black box will provide answers to the causes of the crash.
