The 43-year-old also remembers: “She was the youngest in the team, a happy and incredibly strong fighter. She stayed that way until the end. The diagnosis of leukemia came in July 2019, and a stem cell transplant took place in February 2021. Unfortunately, a few months later, a rejection reaction occurred and since then Ayca has been struggling with inhuman pain and numerous bad side effects. She never gave up hope and tried to smile to the end.” She concludes: “Life can be so damn hard and unfair. I wish her family and friends a lot of strength during this difficult time.” Ayca is survived by her husband Michael, whom she married in December 2020.
