“The big opportunity”: Upper Austrians showed up on the ORF show

Friday evening marked the start of ORF’s big spring show “The Big Chance – Let’s Sing and Dance” with the first talents of all ages and from various disciplines. In the end, the first five acts for the semi-final shows were decided: KGW3 from the Linz-Land district, Dance Industry, FRK Dance School, Anja and Jana Starlinger from Altenhof am Hausruck and Ashleigh’s Junior Team from Linz made it one round out of a total of 25 competing acts further.

529,000 viewers at the first show

An average of 529,000 viewers saw the show. The market share of the newly launched show, moderated by Fanny Stapf and Andi Knoll, was 22 percent, and 27 percent among the young target groups aged 12 to 29, as the ORF announced in a broadcast on Saturday. The performances were judged by Missy May, Barbara Meier and Thorsteinn Einarsson as jury members in this round. The next edition will be broadcast on March 15th (ORF 1, 8:15 p.m.).

It was the first program of ten in which a winner was chosen and awarded 50,000 euros in prize money. The live semi-final shows will be available on ORF 1 from April 26th, the final will take place on May 17th.

3 semifinal tickets for Upper Austrians

The band KGW3 from Upper Austria, the dance group Dance Industry from Carinthia and the FRK Dance School from Vorarlberg made it into the live shows with a direct ticket. The singing duo Anja and Jana Starlinger and the dance group Ashleighs Junior Team, both from Upper Austria, ultimately secured the two remaining semi-final places.

For the current season, the show has been further developed in an “innovative and creative way,” says ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz: “The success of the opening show confirms our path and shows that we have used the right levers.”

“The Big Chance” is made accessible by ORF. Both subtitles and an audio commentary are available. All of the ten programs are available on on.ORF.at and in the ORF TVthek app six months following broadcast. There is also a live stream online as well as additional video material regarding the 140 candidates.
