Which has naturally attracted the hatred of an important part of the alliance, the usual enemies: Giuseppe Conte, Angelo Bonelli, Nicola Fratoianni, Roberto Speranza. On the other side, in a more courtly way, and in silence, there is an area of the PD, essentially the minority, which is preparing the ground for the great return of the former secretary. Of course, ties from the past that for some have remained strong, but above all mere political calculation. Against Elly Schlein. The reality is that the current, which until the last legislature was not by chance defined as “Renzian”, since the secretary took office at the Nazareno, has not touched the ball anymore. No consultation, no advice: disappeared from the radar and above all from the internal organizational charts.
An unsustainable situation for parliamentarians who for many years have assiduously frequented the rooms of “power”. High-sounding names such as Lorenzo Guerini, former defense minister, Simona Malpezzi, former group leader in the Senate, Filippo Sensi, former spokesman for Matteo Renzi during the years of Palazzo Chigi, Simona Bonafe, a close friend from the beginning, Giorgio Gori, former mayor of Bergamo. And behind them, a plethora of administrators, who have little understanding with Elly Schlein’s “boys”, just think of the difficulties in Tuscany of the experienced Eugenio Giani with his “opposite” Emiliano Fossi.
Stefano Bonaccini is also involved, but in a more hidden way, just as Goffredo Bettini is not entirely unconnected to the ongoing discussions. In the meantime, together with Matteo Ricci, he has organized the return of the prodigal son to the unity festival tomorrow in Pesaro. A dense network of relationships therefore, with the aim of ousting what is called “the gatecrasher”, a sort of usurper who surprisingly won the primaries in February 1923. From this point of view, the former Prime Minister is considered the ideal tool to overturn the balance of power and climb the hierarchies.
Not a short-term project but a path that reaches the political elections of ’27. For the Democratic minority it is not even necessary that the former “scrapper” returns home sooner or later, to the Democratic Party. His presence as an ally is enough, to take the lead of the alliance, with the constancy of the jackhammer. A confirmation that has also come from the news of these last few days: “For better or for worse, as long as people talk about it”.
In any case, the return of Matteo Renzi has definitively broken the “pax” imposed by Elly Schlein with the force of numbers. And it risks weighing heavily on the relations with Elly Schlein’s favorite allies: M5S and Alleanza Verdi Sinistra. Who don’t want to know anything about the former mayor of Florence.
With the roles almost reversed, the other case that is shaking the Democratic Party: Giuseppe Conte. The leader of the M5S in a Sunday interview, reiterated some well-known positions: the indifference to the clash between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the request for an end to hostilities in Ukraine, a lack of enthusiasm for Europe and NATO. These are “felt” topics also within the Democratic Party: it is no coincidence that the secretary brought two “pacifists” like Marco Tarquinio and Cecilia Strada to Brussels at the European elections.
The former prime minister still managed to raise a storm, all hell broke loose, they immediately came out to declare against Alessandro Alfieri, Lia Quartapelle, Pina Picierno, Elisabetta Gualmini.
