The Biden administration is ahead of all its predecessors in imposing sanctions against countries around the world

According to data from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). For the US Treasury, 2018 turned out to be the most sanctions-rich year during Trump’s presidency. When the United States withdrew from the nuclear agreement with Iran, accusing the country of enriching uranium and developing banned weapons, vital sectors of the Iranian economy, including energy, petrochemicals and finance, were subjected to severe restrictions. The Trump administration imposed more than a third of the total sanctions during its entire term.

Venezuela’s already strained economy has also been subjected to successive rounds of US sanctions in an attempt to pressure President Nicolas Maduro to step down from office.

Another favorite target of sanctions during Trump’s presidency is China, which the United States accuses of human rights violations. In just four years, the Trump administration imposed 3,899 bans and eliminated 711 restrictions.

As for Biden eraThe American sanctions machine worked in full force. The current president imposed restrictions equivalent to double what his predecessor imposed, as he introduced an average of more than two thousand ban measures annually, and their number reached 8,107, and 1,689 of them were lifted. His administration’s focus was largely on Russia, on which it imposed more than 60% of all sanctions.

Moscow has repeatedly stated that the country will deal with the pressures of sanctions that the West began to exert on the country several years ago and is still increasing, and indicated that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of the sanctions against Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed earlier that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy for the West, and that the sanctions dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy.

In the West, some acknowledged that the sanctions against Russia were ineffective and that they had a negative impact on Western countries.
