Earlier reports were that the delta variant is more dangerous. But compared to that, health experts say that severe sore throat, runny nose, body ache, high fever etc. are seen more in the BF-7 variant. Health experts warn that those who have been sick before, the elderly, those with heart disease, diabetes, lung disease, etc. should be more careful.
The BF-7 variant, which is currently reported in Gujarat and Odisha in India, was earlier reported in countries like America, UK, Belgium, Germany, France and Denmark. The BF-7 variant began to spread in the United States in October. In the UK, regarding seven percent of Covid cases were caused by this strain.
According to the conclusion of health experts, regarding 500 omicron variants have been reported in different countries. Worryingly, the strain has the ability to spread from one person to 10 to 18 people, and may infect more people from asymptomatic patients.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya called the meeting amid the spread of Covid in countries including China. Apart from China, the Union Ministry of Health has also stated that in the context of increasing cases of Covid in countries like Japan, America and Brazil, the prevention of Covid should be strengthened in the country. It is also recommended to continue wearing masks in public places. Important decisions have been taken in the meeting convened by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavya in view of the covid situation in the country.
The minister stated that the covid is not over yet and it has been suggested to be vigilant and strengthen monitoring. The minister informed that he is ready to face any situation. NITI Aayog member Dr. VK Paul clarified following the meeting that masks should be continued in crowded places (inside and outside). He said that this is important for people with diseases and the elderly.
He said that booster shots should not be delayed and senior citizens should not compromise in that regard. So far, only 27-28 percent have received the precautionary dose, he said. States and Union Territories have been directed to send samples of Covid-positive cases to INSACOG labs to facilitate identification of new variants.
