Iniesta said in statements to the Spanish newspaper “Marca”: “For me, it was not necessary for Messi to win the World Cup to consider him the best, with or without the World Cup, he is the best.”
He added, “I think that the person who did not believe it before Messi won the World Cup will continue to find some excuse to adhere to his idea.”
And he continued, “But in any case, I think that Messi deserved the title in full, not only for him, but for all of Argentina.”
And he concluded, “How did he compete with himself? He started losing in the first match, and taking this extra pressure on what he already had, for me, is the hero he deserves.”
