Waking up to this kind of alarm, in addition to being extremely unpleasant, does not make you more alert in the morning. Quite the contrary.
Australian researchers have worked very seriously to determine the best way to wake up. They found that soft, melodic alarms bring people out of a drowsy state more effectively in the morning, while harsh beeps and horns make you more groggy. These results were published in January 2020 and published in the scientific journal Plos One.

Avoiding sleep inertia
Dr. Stuart McFarlane and colleagues recruited 50 participants to complete a survey regarding their chosen wake-up call and their morning sleep status. Each individual indicated the type of music chosen for waking up and also rated their wake-up alertness and sleepiness levels once morest standardized criteria.
