Cheeses from Champéry (VS), Vouvry (VS) but also Obwalden are the best raclette cheeses. They were rewarded on Sunday during the first world championships in the specialty in Morgins (VS).
Eighty-seven cheeses, mostly from Valais, were in the running. In the raclette category with raw alpine milk, the trifecta is from Valais: cheese from the Tanay alpine pasture (Vouvry) comes in first ahead of that from the Er de Lens alpine pasture and from the Gaby farm in Champoussin, indicate Sunday organizers.
In raw dairy milk cheeses, the title goes to the Le Pont de Champéry cheese factory, ahead of EARL Les Noisetiers de Leschaux, in Haute-Savoie (F), and the Liddes cheese factory (VS).
Finally, in the “other cheeses” category, the Seiler Sélection by Wyssmüller Maître Fromager cheese factory from Giswil (OW) comes out on top. It is ahead of Milco SA from Vuisternens-en-Ogoz (FR) and the Waler Bergkäserei cheese factory from Bitsch (VS).
