Ah, Switzerland: its chocolate, its banks, its watches, and… its hospitals! The American magazine “Newsweek”, together with the statistics portal Statista, recently published a list of the best hospitals in the world. Determined on the basis of surveys carried out among 85,000 specialists, patient surveys and factors such as hygiene or the ratio of patients per doctor, the study takes into account 2,400 establishments from 30 countries. And Switzerland can boast of appearing several times at the top of the table.
Ranked tenth best in the world, the University Hospital of Zurich appears in first position among Swiss establishments, with a score of 93.3 out of 100. It is closely followed by the CHUV and the University Hospital of Basel, which respectively appear in thirteenth and fourteenth places in the general classification. The HUG, for their part, appears in 63rd position globally, and receives the chocolate medal for Switzerland.
Globally, American establishments are crushing the competition and occupy four of the top five ranks.
