In which German city are the conditions for an entry-level job most advantageous for students? If you want to study in Germany, you should take a closer look at the desired location.
The transition from studying full-time to working life is a challenge for many graduates – but which German cities offer the best conditions for this?
Savoo asked itself this question as part of a current study: A search was carried out throughout Germany for the places of residence with the best ratio of living costs to job offers for students. The 30 most populous cities were compared using the following criteria: number of available entry-level jobs and internships, the average cost of living and the average monthly income.
Gelsenkirchen has the most jobs for students, Braunschweig in second place
The analysis shows that Gelsenkirchen is the most convincing with a high number of jobs. There are a total of around 1,360 entry-level jobs and internships here. However, compared to big cities like Berlin or Munich with 3415 and 3407 job vacancies that is very little. However, if you look at the number of current job advertisements per 1000 students, there are 227 in Gelsenkirchen than in any other city examined.
The Lower Saxony city of Braunschweig is in second place. In particular, living in a central location is affordable at an average of 531 euros per month.
Münster and Berlin offer the fewest positions for graduates
In the analysis, not every city might offer what recent graduates would need or want. Münster offers only six positions per 1000 students. That is less than in all other cities in Germany, which is why Münster comes last in the overall ranking.
And the German capital only occupies the penultimate place. Although many are drawn there because of the vibrant social life and the numerous opportunities, this also means that there is a lot of competition when looking for a job. With only 17 job and internship offers per 1000 students, a difficult job search following graduation is to be expected.
