Vice President Kamala Harris has surpassed the threshold of delegate votes needed to secure the Democratic nomination for the November election. The chairman of the party’s National Committee, Jaime Harrison, announced this after the virtual delegate voting process began yesterday. Voting will continue until Monday, but the vice president is already over the threshold needed to confirm her run for the White House. Harris has already announced that she will formally accept the nomination once the procedures are completed. “I am honored: I will formally accept the nomination at the conclusion of the voting process,” she said.

“One of the best decisions I ever made was choosing Kamala Harris as my vice president. Now that she will be our party’s nominee, I couldn’t be more proud. We win,” declared the President of the United States, Joe Biden, on social X, who announced his withdrawal from the race for the White House that made these weeks effervescent. Harris was the only candidate in the runoff for the five-day electronic vote, after 4,000 delegates – grassroots activists and politicians nominated during the primary process – signed petitions in support of her candidacy.
