The Best CASIO Standard Watch: A Review of the MTP-1370L Model

I got tired of Chipkashi, super-luxury Casio, and G-SHOCK, so I got a wonderfully cheap reimported CASIO Standard Watch. This year marks the 40th anniversary since its introduction. As a matter of course, G-SHOCK has attracted more attention than usual, and many commemorative models have been released, and this year’s Casio is all regarding G-SHOCK. The author, who is obnoxious and crooked, tries to ride the wave, but when many people make a fuss, it is customary for them to shift their attention to other products despite the pressure. It was a long time ago now, but it was the same when Chipkashi (cheap Casio: cheap plastic Casio wristwatches) took the world by storm. The appeal of Chipkashi and Swatch is their sleek design power that goes beyond the price range. My favorite recently is the CASIO Standard, an analog dial quartz watch with Chipkashi elements. However, one of the major reasons for the popularity of Swatch and the like is that it is possible to take on bold design challenges with low risk using inexpensive materials. The reason why I love some Chipkashi models and Swatches is because of their “gritty power.” The watch introduced this time is a “Day-Date model” equipped with the date and front date display function of “Casio Standard”, which is a reimported model of Casio that I found by chance on a domestic online shopping site. The product model number is “Casio MTP-1370L”. There are two types of dials, black and white, and I got the black dial, which is a more fearless type. The CASIO Standard MTP-1370L, which has a day-date function that is rare in Japan, an orthodox long and short hand and time index that combines visibility and design, a design that is unified in fearless black, and a domestic quartz movement, is an amazing cost performance. A classical and orthodox design, but a rare Day/Date model for Casio watches. These days, there are many simple and plain watches without a date display. On the other hand, some Showa-era wristwatches include legacy models that have two day and date display windows as standard. Among watches made overseas, Rolex’s ultra-celebrity DAY-DATE watch is the standard. The MTP-1370L that I got this time also follows that arrangement, and the day of the week is displayed in full spelling in the display window that has been expanded in a fan shape from 11 o’clock to 1 o’clock on the dial. And the date display appears at 6 o’clock, the opposite position of the day of the week, instead of the usual default position of 3 o’clock. Some domestic wristwatches have a display design with a high overview that expands the small window at the 3 o’clock position horizontally and displays the day and date intensively there, but it has an elegant design and a custom feel. If you want to express it, the 11 o’clock to 1 o’clock position, which is most noticeable in full spelling, is a good choice. An index with the same design as the long and short hands of medium and high mountain that is comparable to overseas companies that use Cyclops lenses. The DAY-DATE display at the 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock positions stands out. The date display on the DAY-DATE, which is a high-end Rolex model, is in a traditional position with a “cyclops lens” that aims to increase visibility by enlarging the characters. It is placed at the 3 o’clock position. On the other hand, the MTP-1370L is simply placed at 6 o’clock opposite the day at 12 o’clock, and the visibility is not bad with a normally well-balanced arrangement. The long and short hands have the same image as the time indexes on the dial, and adopt a roof-shaped multifaceted cut. Reflection of light can be expected from any angle, and it will be effective in improving the visibility of the current time. In the center of the ultra-short hand, an index is drawn with phosphorescent paint, which contributes to time visibility even in dark places. The crocodile-embossed black leather belt has a good color balance for both the silver main body and the buckle. These days, the word “cospa” is often used simply to mean “cheap” without mentioning the conditions for achieving it, so I don’t really like the word. However, the MTP-1370L adopts a domestically produced quartz mechanism with a day/date display and quartz accuracy, and if you are looking for a wristwatch with an elegant design that is comparable to the surroundings, the MTP-1370L is a rare cost performance. It’s the best watch ever. Anyone familiar with G-SHOCK and Chipkashi didn’t know it was a CASIO wristwatch. The author’s proud CASIO Standard wristwatch DAY-DATE model. It was the height of summer, which is not suitable for me. For that reason, I thought regarding changing the belt from the traditional buckle type to the buckle type before using it. Although not many, more than 90% of my favorite leather strap wristwatches use D-buckle clasps. It is a gem that is gentle on the arm and leather. Easy to install The author bought a general push-unlock butterfly D buckle following going around the net. I bought it at a low price of 950 yen on Amazon and it arrived the next day. Of course, the color is almost the same as the silver parts of MTP-1370L, and the matching is perfect. Installation is easy. Use the spring bar remover to remove the buckle and pin (tsuku bar) that came with the MTP-1370L from the beginning. Then use the removed spring bar to attach the butterfly D buckle. Next, insert the point of the sword (the sharp end of the belt) into the belt hole pin of the butterfly D buckle and fix it to create a loop of an appropriate size. After that, all you have to do is actually wear it on your arm several times and adjust it to the best length. Unlike the large single-opening D buckle, the double-opening butterfly type D buckle has high wearing performance on the arm and minimizes the load on the belt. There is little damage to the arm and the fit to the arm is excellent. Once the size adjustment is complete, the butterfly D buckle is always in the bangle state, and the probability of accidentally dropping the watch when putting it on or taking it off is almost zero. First, put your arm through the belt and then close the buckle, so there is no chance of accidentally dropping the watch. Also, as mentioned above, even if you repeatedly put on and take off the watch, the belt will be much less damaged than the style where the pin is passed through the hole with the buckle. Even if you do so far, it is 5510 yen, which is 4560 yen (MTP-1370L) + 950 yen (butterfly D buckle). Although I am still a fledgling watch hobbyist, it has become the strongest cost performance watch that deserves a special mention in my short history of watches. I’ll keep it as my favorite desktop watch for a while until autumn when the sweaty season is over. I’ve been wanting to start using it since autumn, when the sweat season is over. Currently, I put it on a cheap watch stand and look at it every day until autumn comes as a desk side watch. Product price Purchase Casio standard watch MTP-1370L-1A (black dial) There is also a white dial 4560 yen Period Co., Ltd. “Taiyo no Keiten”
