On the property of La Rural, last weekend the II Alfajor World Championshipin which he was the winner an alfajor triple with dulce de leche called “Wanna”, which is manufactured in the Buenos Aires town of Campana. In the competition participated manufacturers from different countries before the attendance of some 40,000 people and an experienced jury made up of influencers, pastry chefs, food engineers and specialists in sensory analysis.
On the official website of the Mundial del Alfajor, the initiative is described as “the first event aimed at rewarding the efforts of companies to provide consumers with the Best Alfajores, of the highest quality, made with recipes passed down from generation to generation and using the purest ingredients”.
Yanina Acosta and Maximiliano Santosowners of the enterprise that gave rise to the succulent triple alfajor that was the winner of the international contest, spoke with the news agency telam and revealed that they were perfecting the recipe “until the last moment”.
“We are speechless, we are speechless, we won the prize for the best alfajor and the category for the best triple as well; It is the prize for a passion, we started with a lot of effort in 2021 and we kept changing recipes, until the last minute”, stated the champions of the recent Alfajor World Cup.
“It is an achievement of both of us, we are constant entrepreneurs, this alfajor is not in the kiosks, it is not marketed until today, in Campana we had almost no salesexcept for some acquaintances, and in order to compete we had to send samples a week before, we’ll see what happens from now on,” Maximiliano explained to telam.
During the meeting, more than 100 firms competed without having their own stand, both nationally and from other countries, such as Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, Paraguay, Peru, Canada and the United States.
Ingredients of the ‘best alfajor in the world’
The delicacy that was crowned as “Best Alfajor in the World 2023” It is a triple alfajor with a chocolate cookie, filled with dulce de leche and peanut ganache, with a semi-sweet chocolate bath.
The experts proceeded under a strict procedure of blind tasting and they leaned towards the alfajor produced in Campana.
Many of the exhibitors who participated in the crowded event ran out of stock during the exhibition in La Rural, due to the great demand of the public who was a fan of sweets.
