The Bernabéu whistles for Morata

It has not been Álvaro Morata’s night on his return to the Santiago Bernabéu at home. He has not done it as a Real Madrid player, but as a player for the Spanish National Team. The captain of La Roja, although today he gave the armband to Rodri due to the death of the midfielder’s grandfather, was whistled in the second half by the white fiefdom, motivated by the boos, for his mistake with the ball in the plays in those in which he has had to intervene. Furthermore, his signing for Atlético de Madrid did not sit well with Concha Espina, since the forward was part of the Real Madrid squad for many seasons and ended up playing for the capital’s biggest rival.

Whistles and boos when substituted

When he was replaced by Mikel Oyarzábal in the 81st minute of the match, the Santiago Bernabéu, in unison, booed him. It is true that the ‘7’ match will not be remembered as one of his best performances with the national team. He has missed passes, he has not been fine in his returns, he has been somewhat slow when it comes to following the play and he has not had any clear opportunity to see the goal. However, the Bernabéu’s reaction is surely more due to the fact that he plays for Atlético. The man from Madrid even said that it was his dream to play with the red and white shirt. He looks like he is wearing white stripes on the Spanish red.

Morata will not have a good memory of this match. Neither for sports nor for non-sports. However, the detail that the captain had with Rodrigo, a big-scorer today in tribute to his grandfather, will be remembered. Now, it’s time to go back to his club, and he won’t have to go far. The Cívitas Metropolitano is just 15 kilometers away.
