Researchers analyzed data from nearly 30,000 people and revealed how timing moderate to vigorous physical activity affects health outcomes.

The work focused on people diagnosed with obesity. Scientists wanted to find out whether exercise at specific times might counteract some of the negative effects.

All participants were divided into four groups depending on what time they usually trained – in the morning, followingnoon or evening. Another group led a sedentary lifestyle.

Observation was carried out for eight years. All this time, doctors recorded deaths from any cause, as well as new diagnoses of cardiovascular and other diseases.

The results showed that those who performed various types of exercise in the evening had greater health benefits compared to people with a sedentary lifestyle.

This group of participants had a 61% lower risk of death from any cause, a 36% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and a 24% lower risk of developing microvascular disease.

Morning and followingnoon workouts also showed some health benefits, but less than evening exercise. This may be due to the fact that your blood sugar levels rise in the evening.

Exercise helps remove excess glucose from the bloodstream into the muscles, which has not only short-term but also long-term benefits: over time, it can prevent even greater health problems.
