The Belgian Fast manages to arrest a criminal, who escaped from Saint-Gilles prison in March 2020, in Guinea

In our country, he was convicted four times for several armed robberies and received a total of 21 years in prison. In March 2020, AI escaped from Saint-Gilles prison. A little over a year later, in May 2021, he allegedly participated in the armed robbery of an armored van north of Amsterdam (Netherlands).

In November of last year, another alleged perpetrator of this robbery, also on the run, was arrested by Fast Serbia. The Belgian Fast and the Brussels Federal Judicial Police have tracked down AI in Guinea. The latter was arrested on the night of December 16 to 17 by the Guinean judicial police, the DCPJ (Central Directorate of the Judicial Police), in Conakry, the country’s capital, while the person concerned was going to a nightclub. The success of this operation is due to the effective international cooperation between the Guinean police services and the Fast of the Belgian federal judicial police. The Belgian Ministries of the Interior and Justice, as well as the Belgian Embassy in Conakry are actively in contact with their Guinean counterparts, in order to proceed as soon as possible with the extradition of the former fugitive, specifies-t -on once more in the statement of the federal police.
