Expectations such as Shin Eui-hyun…銅 2 goals
The Olympics will be completed with the Paralympic Games (Paralympic Games). The 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games will begin on the 4th at 9 pm at the National Stadium, starting with the opening ceremony. 736 participants from 49 countries around the world competed fiercely for 78 gold medals in 6 sports. Beijing, which hosted the 2008 Summer Games, will become the first city in history to host both the Summer and Winter Paralympics as well as the non-Paralympic Games.
South Korea, the host country of the last tournament, will send a total of 82 athletes, including 32 athletes and 50 officials, to all six sports. The team’s main camp arrived in Beijing on the 25th of last month and conducted local adaptation training. Korea participated in the Winter Paralympic Games eight times until the Pyeongchang Games four years ago, winning one gold medal, two silver medals, and two bronze medals. Two bronze medals were set for this competition.
The most likely candidate for the medal is Shin Eui-hyeon (42, Changseong Construction), who became the first Korean to win a Paralympic gold medal in the men’s 7.5km in cross-country skiing at the Pyeongchang Games. Eui-Hyun Shin competes in a total of six events in cross-country skiing and biathlon. Alpine skiing representative Choi Sara (19, Seoul Para Ski Association) and wheelchair curling representative ‘Jang Yun-jeong Confession’ team are also being evaluated as candidates for medals.
Meanwhile, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced on the same day that the Russian and Belarusian delegations will not be able to participate in the event. The IPC had announced the day before that it would bring the national teams of the two countries to play as neutral nations. However, as voices continued, “If Russia invaded Ukraine and the Belarusian team who agreed with it participate, we will boycott the tournament,” and eventually the direction was reversed. The Ukrainian delegation will participate in this tournament as normal.
