Even if you’re not really into the fighting game community, you’ve probably heard of SonicFox. Dominique McLean is one of the most outspoken characters to ever play Mortal Kombat, and their openness to being a part of the LGBTQ+ and furry communities combined with their skills has made them some of the most popular and successful One of the professional Mortal Kombat players.
However, they have recently had some conflicts with Nobi Gaming co-owner Waka Flocka Flame. As part of this year’s EVO, SonicFox will take on Waka Flocka Flame in a Mortal Kombat 1 match. Even blindfolded, SonicFox won, but the outcome of the game didn’t matter.
SonicFox later posted on Twitter that they were not being paid in full for their appearance on Nobi Gaming.according to Esports.gg According to SonicFox, they failed to fulfill their part of the contract with Nobi and they had to publish 2 social media posts per week to promote the contest before the event.
Waka Flocka Flame quickly jumped into the dispute, accusing SonicFox of making the fighting game community look bad. With thousands of dollars at stake, SonicFox threatened legal action but appears to have decided not to take the matter to court and instead wants to resolve the issue.
