1459. Traffic accident between cyclist and pedestrian; two people injured – Obersendling

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at around 12:15 p.m., a 34-year-old resident of Munich was riding a Pedelec bicycle on the Kistlerhofstrasse bike path out of town. At the same time, a 68-year-old resident of the Erding district was also walking on the bike path as a pedestrian.

The 34-year-old cyclist rang his bicycle bell and tried to overtake the 68-year-old. The 68-year-old then ran directly in front of the 34-year-old’s bicycle and a collision occurred. Both people involved fell to the ground and were injured.

The 34-year-old cyclist was taken to a hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

The 34-year-old’s bicycle suffered minor damage.

There were no traffic disruptions while the accident was being recorded.

Further investigations were taken over by the Munich traffic police.

1460. Organized call center fraud; fake bank employee – Ludwigsvorstadt

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m., an 80-year-old woman residing in Munich received a call from an alleged employee of a credit institution. The caller informed the 80-year-old woman about an allegedly fraudulent withdrawal of money from her checking account.

According to the caller, there had been a number of false debits in the past, which is why the 80-year-old woman was asked to withdraw money from her account for security reasons. The 80-year-old woman complied with the request and withdrew cash worth several thousand euros from her checking account.

After the 80-year-old returned home, she received another call from the alleged employee of the credit institution. He informed the 80-year-old that he was already in contact with the police because she had been followed on her way home and the police wanted to catch the perpetrator red-handed. The 80-year-old then deposited several thousand euros in cash in an envelope in front of her front door. Shortly afterwards, the envelope was picked up by an as yet unknown perpetrator.

After the 80-year-old woman inquired at the police station responsible for her place of residence whether the perpetrator had already been arrested, she noticed the fraud.

Further investigations in this case are being conducted by Department 61 (call center fraud) of the Munich Criminal Police.

The perpetrators use a special technique that causes the police emergency number 110 or another local telephone number to appear on the recipient’s phone display when they call.

• Don’t let anyone pressure you on the phone. Just hang up.

• Never give money to unknown people.

1461. Traffic accident between bus and bicycle; cyclist injured – Am Hart

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at around 3:50 p.m., a 65-year-old resident of Munich was riding a bicycle out of town on Oberhofer Weg. This is a cycle path. At the same time, a 62-year-old resident of the Pfaffenhofen district was driving a bus along Hufelandstrasse in the direction of Ingolstädter Strasse.

At the intersection of these two streets, a collision occurred between the bicycle and the bus, with the bus colliding head-on with the bicycle. The cyclist fell to the ground and was seriously injured. The Hufelandstraße Oberhofer Weg intersection was controlled by traffic lights at the time. The traffic lights at the time of the accident are currently the subject of an investigation being conducted by the Munich traffic police.

The 65-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance and is being treated there as an inpatient.

The Hufelandstrasse had to be completely closed for the duration of the traffic accident investigation, which resulted in traffic disruptions.

The total damage caused is estimated at several thousand euros.

1462. Burglary at a medical facility – Neuhausen

Between Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, September 18th, 2024, 7:20 a.m., previously unknown perpetrators forced their way into a medical facility through a window. There they stole a large number of medical devices and cash. They obtained loot worth several tens of thousands of euros. They then fled in an unknown direction. After the break-in was discovered, the police were notified immediately.

Extensive forensic investigations were carried out on site.

Further investigations in this case are being conducted by Police Department 52 (Burglary Offenses).
