The Batman 2 Release Date Delayed to October 2026: Warner Bros. Postpones Highly Anticipated Sequel

The second part of the franchise, which stars Robert Pattinson in the role of the famous Batman, was expected in theaters in October 2025. Warner pushed it back to October 2026.

Fans of The Batman will have to wait before seeing Robert Pattinson in Gotham once more. Expected in theaters in October 2025, the second part of the franchise has been postponed to October 2026, reports the American media Variety.

Announced in April 2022, The Batman 2 will once once more be directed by Matt Reeves. Besides the return of Robert Pattinson, no other member of the cast of this second part has been revealed.

In addition to this postponement, Warner Bros. also postponed the release of The Bride by Maggie Gyllenhaal, with Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley and Peter Sarsgaard. Alto Knights, a drama regarding the rivalry of two mafia bosses, both played by Robert De Niro, has also been postponed from November 15, 2024 to March 21, 2025.

Finally, Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film titled An Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Event Film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Alana Haim will be released on August 8, 2025, according to Warner Bros.

Spin-off on The Penguin

Released in March 2022, The Batman has earned more than $770 million (or 717 million euros) at the global box office. In France, this new opus immediately rose to the top of the box office, crossing the million admissions mark in its first week of release in theaters.

A week following this hit, HBO Max also announced that it had ordered a spin-off from the adventures of the batman. Currently titled The Penguin, it will center on one of Gotham’s iconic villains, played by Colin Farrell and also produced by Matt Reeves. A first trailer was revealed in April 2023.
