The Basketball Tournamentpopularly known as TBT, is a contest that has been held since 2014 in the United States, facing professional players, with other amateurs or already retired. The tournament, made up of a field of 64 teams, is open-ended and is played by teams organized specifically for this event.
The different teams are organized by a general manager and face each other in a table similar to that of the NCAA Tournament, with direct elimination matches.
In the case of the 2022 edition, it will be held in eight regional venues: Cincinnati, Albuquerque, Syracuse, Wichita, Omaha, Dayton, Charleston y el tradicional Rucker Park de New York City. The definition will be played in Dayton.
The event began this Saturday, July 16, and will end on Tuesday, August 2.
The rosters are made up of all kinds of players: from some who barely had a stint in the NCAA, to others who knew how to shine in FIBA basketball or even had experience at the NBA level. In 2022 there will be well-known names such as Jimmer Fredette, jamario moon, CJ Miles, Tyler Ennis, Zhaire Smith, Kosta Koufos or the brothers Amen and Ausar Thompson, projected as picks Top 5 del NBA Draft 2023among many others.
The TBT has even served as a launching pad for some players: in 2021, Keifer Sykes he hit the game-winning shot to lift Boeheim’s Army to the title and just 48 hours later, he signed an NBA contract to play for the Indiana Pacers.
