Wonderful Rosine. Extraordinary Christine Vouilloz. On the stage of the Théâtre des Osses in Givisiez, the great French-speaking actress plays Rosine, the beautiful captive of the Barber of Seville, this comedy where Pierre-Augustin de Beaumarchais pulled, in 1775, old strings with a genius that made him one of the darlings of the century of Mozart and Diderot.

So see Christine Vouilloz, her dress flared at the bottom, indented at the top, in the fashion of Madame du Barry, her theatrical youth around which the sinister Doctor Bartholo, her tutor, circles like a grizzly bear. He wants to marry her! Count Almaviva has sworn, ever since he saw this beauty in Madrid, to rescue her from the clutches of the Sevillian bluestem. Figaro, this sharp-tongued barber, will of course assist him. The plot is crisp, but its plot burns more than one would believe. This is what Anne Schwaller, new director of Les Osses, suggests in a production that is as music-loving as it is inspired.
