The joint death toll for Turkey and Syria has risen to over 2,600 in the strong earthquakes this morning.
According to Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, the earthquakes killed 1,651 people in Turkey and injured at least 11,159. 3,471 buildings have collapsed, raising fears of even heavier tolls in addition to the hundreds of deaths in neighboring Syria.
