The BAG reports 16,183 new cases, 113 hospitalizations and 16 deaths

In Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH reported 16,183 new coronavirus infections in 57,080 tests on Friday. At the same time, the BAG registered 16 new deaths and 113 hospital admissions.

On the same day a week ago, the BAG had received reports of 22,221 confirmed new infections, 137 hospital admissions and 18 deaths. The number of cases fell by 27.2 percent within a week. Hospital admissions decreased by 17.5 percent compared to the previous week.

There are currently a total of 647 people in intensive care in the hospitals. The utilization of the intensive care units is currently 75.60 percent. 20.60 percent of the available beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

In the past four weeks, 8,712.63 laboratory-confirmed coronavirus infections have been reported for every 100,000 inhabitants. The reproduction number R, which indicates how many people an infected person infects on average, was 0.79 around ten days ago.

68.74 percent of the population in Switzerland are now fully vaccinated. Another 1.32 percent received a first dose. Of the population aged 12 and over, 77.93 percent are vaccinated. In addition, 41.15 percent of the general population and 75.64 percent of those over 65 have received a so-called booster vaccination.
