The background behind the postponement of his US trip

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s meeting with his US counterpart Joe Biden at the White House on May 9 has been postponed, a senior official told Reuters and Bloomberg. The same official reportedly stated that the meeting in question will take place in the future, while the reason for postponing the trip is not mentioned.

However, the United States ambassador to Turkey, earlier today, at an event he attended in Istanbul, said that the date will be decided in the future. The last time the Turkish president crossed the threshold of the White House was in 2019, during the presidency of Donald Trump.

It seems that the meeting that Recep Tayyip Erdogan had with the leader of Hamas did not sit well with the United States and the White House. This is one of the reasons it is shown.

But there is other information, which states that Turkey is the one who does not want this meeting to take place, because the United States has decided to give financial aid of 26 billion dollars to Israel.

US Pentagon spokesman John Kirby made a statement when asked about Erdogan’s trip and said that from the United States side there is no planning regarding a trip by Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the United States.
