The autonomy plan presented by Morocco to resolve the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara is “a solution that goes in the right direction”, underlined the Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region, Rudi Vervoort, expressing his support to “any initiative offering a lasting solution to this conflict”.
“It is an initiative that is definitely going in the right direction (…) and personally, I support any initiative that offers a lasting solution to a conflict that has lasted too long,” said Mr. Vervoort in an interview with M24, MAP’s continuous news channel, on the sidelines of his visit to Morocco.
He pointed out, in this sense, that the autonomy plan “is linked to the great regionalization project in Morocco and corresponds to territorial expectations”.

He also emphasized the broad support of the international community for this autonomy plan, regularly qualified by the United Nations Security Council as “serious” and “credible” in all its resolutions.
Mr Vervoort’s visit to Morocco at the head of a Brussels delegation was marked in particular by the signing of three cooperation agreements between the Council of the region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and the region of Brussels-capital, with objective of promoting economic, social, health, scientific and environmental development.
