the automotive industry will break its export record this year

During the oral question session in the House of Councillors, Mezzour recalled that Morocco has a rich 15-year experience in automobile production, enabling it to achieve significant results. In this sense, the minister stressed that the objectives that have been set this year for the sector were to reach a production capacity of one million cars, of which 700,000 units have already been manufactured.

The minister explained that the production capacity of the “Peugeot” factory will be doubled by around 250,000 additional cars, and by 20,000 for the “Renault” group in Tangier.

Regarding electric cars, Mezzour added that: “the production capacity by 2025 will reach 750,000 cars»noting that Morocco currently manufactures 40,000 electric cars.

The minister underlined that the objective set to reach the production of one million cars is about to be reached, adding that 64% of the value of the parts used in the production chain are manufactured in Morocco.

Furthermore, Mezzour indicated that the sector employs 220,000 professionals in Morocco and that over the next three years the objective is to add about 120,000 additional jobs.
