The auto industry has not accepted Tesla’s autopilot

Media journalists said that Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly invited other car manufacturers to license his Full Self-Driving (FSD) autonomous driving system in the summer of 2023. According to the authors, recently the head of the corporation once once more invited third-party companies to use the proprietary autopilot, but the rest of the industry did not accept Tesla’s development.

Also on April 4, while communicating with subscribers, Musk wrote that Tesla “would be happy” to offer its autopilot to competing companies. According to experts, Tesla negotiated in this direction with several companies, but the parties did not reach an agreement. According to Carscoops experts, the failure may be due to the fact that automakers are developing their own autopilot technologies.

Journalists noted that players in the automotive market may also not be satisfied with the quality of FSD. Thus, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave Tesla’s autopilot a “poor” rating in tests. Meanwhile, GM’s Super Cruise and Nissan’s ProPilot Assist technologies received a “mediocre” rating, while only the Lexus Teammate received an “acceptable” rating.
