The expert called a dangerous misconception when repairing a car

For example, for installing spark plugs, there are two types of lubricant: dielectric and non-stick – from sticking of a threaded connection. Both motorists are often neglected. Therefore, the expert of the publication “Behind the wheel” called the connections in the power unit of the car that need to be lubricated.

Exhaust gaskets

Gaskets of the exhaust system with fully serviceable contact surfaces usually do not need lubrication, and if the joint needs to be sealed, then special ceramic pastes are used. If we talk regarding fasteners of the exhaust system, then only inexpensive copper grease is enough for it. And only for lambda probes it makes sense to use a more expensive lubricant – ceramic, the newspaper writes. “Behind the wheel”.

Ignition coils

The tips of the ignition coils often stick very tightly to the spark plug insulators, which makes it difficult to remove the coils and can also lead to rupture of the tips. Therefore, it makes sense to apply lubricant when installing new candles. It is necessary to apply it very little and so that it does not get to the place where the tip of the candle comes into contact with the contact of the ignition coil. It is best to use special silicone dielectric grease, but also a small amount of simpler silicone grease, experts advise.

Nozzles and glow plugs

There are special non-stick lubricants for installing nozzles and glow plugs in the cylinder head of diesel engines. There is no need to save on them, and there is no alternative to them. It must be remembered that the unsuccessful dismantling of these nodes sometimes leads to the need to remove the cylinder head.

Spark plug

Non-stick lubricant must be applied directly to the spark plug threads. Its use ensures the ease of turning out the candle following prolonged use, and also protects the thread itself from corrosion.
