After a long lull, fresh details have surfaced about the dark fantasy action shooter Witchfire, which is being developed by the creators of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Painkiller and Bulletstorm. The development team from The Astronauts studio became the main contributor to the new issue of Game Informer magazine, where they shared new screenshots and talked more about the open world.

Witchfire can turn out to be quite a sensitive game for believing users. In the world of action shooter, Jesus never existed, so it turned out to be as gloomy and frightening as possible. Nevertheless, in Witchfire there is a constant struggle between evil and good in the scenery of the Middle Ages. The world will be filled with mysterious magic and occult rituals, which are actively used by all the forces represented.

Players will take control of one of the immortal hunters, whose task is to exterminate all evil spirits on their way. The hero may die, but after death always return to the world of the living, where he will have to pay a bloody price for his resurrection. They draw their strength from fire, which has different properties: some will protect it even after death, while others will improve the character’s skills.

The developers of Witchfire confirmed to reporters that they are now actively working on reworking the game in the open world. Gamers are waiting for really big locations, which, as part of early access, will develop into a full-fledged game world with many opportunities.
