In Burkina Faso, the Union of Truck Drivers of Burkina observes a work stoppage to reflect, following the attack on the supply convoy of Djibo, attacked in Gaskindé on September 26th. Around 70 members of the Rovers are still missing. For the moment, no information is available on their position. The truck drivers say they are still determined to supply the populations but on one condition, safety.

Thirty-six hours of work stoppage, black band in front of the headquarters of their union, the truck drivers of Burkina observe a mourning, following the attack on the convoy in Gaskindé on 26 September.

Brahima Rabo, president of the truck drivers’ union, does not hide his concern regarding attacks on supply convoys. ” What we deplore is that we have learned of the return of the bodies of the military, but we, as truck drivers, have not [vu] the return of one body. We haven’t heard from our bodies. Of the 207 vehicles that left for Djibo, […] you can estimate that 70 people are missing. »

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and Urban Mobility visited these grieving drivers. Jean-Claude Zongo maintains that the various ministerial departments are in a dynamic of securing vehicles, especially in areas with high security risk.

« Measures are taken, other measures will come because in contact with reality, you have to ask yourself questions, you have to question yourself for a better reorganization of the escorts, says the secretary general. This is truly an urgent matter. »

The truck drivers say they are still determined to supply the populations, but on one condition, a reinforcement of the security system of the convoys.
