The Aurinegro took out the plate against the tough Zamora

Deportivo Táchira FC played its first match in Pueblo Nuevo, for the Clausura Tournament, of the FUTVE 2024 League. The rival for the second day was Zamora FC

The Tigers came into the match needing to get the three points, as the draw against Estudiantes de Mérida made things difficult for them in the cumulative standings.

Sunday night would be a tough day for Eduardo Saragó’s team, the Llaneros had beaten Inter de Barinas and it is always a tough nut to crack in Pueblo Nuevo.

This time, the fans did not heed the call of the most popular soccer team in the country. Despite the cold and the rain that occurred in the upper part of the city of cordiality, the few parishioners who took pictures at the box office were able to enjoy a game that was marked by the good level that both teams exhibited.

The black and golds set the pace of the game in the first 45′. Maurice Cova, Diego Saggiomo, Carlos Robles, Yoneil Hernández and the Colombian Felipe Pardo, caused problems for the defensive system that was guarding Carlos González’s goal.

Despite the dominance of the team from Tachira on a wet pitch, the goal would not come in the first half.

The second half started with a scare from Carlos Figueroa on José Camargo’s goal. Táchira adjusted their lines and the match became interesting, especially on the flanks and in the middle of the field.

Time was passing and the scoreboard in Pueblo Nuevo was not moving, and in light of this situation, Saragó gave the green light to Gean Franco Castillo for Saggiomo. Castillo’s entry allowed Pardo and Cova to move the line forward and manage the pace, in a terrain that continued to be uncomfortable for the protagonists of the night’s match.

Zamora was marking and leaving Figueroa, Aitor López and José Granados with the responsibility of bringing danger to the goal. When the clock was ticking at 31′ Hernández was brought down near the visiting penalty area. Cova took the ball at ground level and the goalkeeper González could not clear it. The rebound was taken advantage of by Mauro Maidana who sent it to the back of the net with his right foot.

Zamora tried to shake off the goal, applying a series of variations but on this occasion the history of Mérida would not be repeated for Eduardo Sargó’s troops.

Deportivo Táchira achieved a victory that encourages it to continue raising its level in a tournament that gives it a place in the international arena. The next match of the atigrado will be in August against Rayo Zuliano in hot Maracaibo.
