Astronauts Saleh Al-Amiri and Abdullah Al-Hammadi are preparing to return home at the end of this month, following completing, Sunday, the last working day at the Russian Space Agency’s Bio-Research Institute in Moscow.
This came in two separate posts by the pioneers via “Instagram”, in which they thanked the wise leadership and those in charge of “Mission No. 1” and for their trust and support, which contributed to the success of the first Emirati mission to simulate space in “Sirius 21”.
Al-Amiri left the isolation capsule in Sirius 21 on the third of this month, following he undertook the first Emirati mission to simulate space at the ground station in Moscow, which lasted 8 months (240 days), during which he conducted 70 experiments and scientific research, while Al Hammadi’s presence formed At the control center outside the capsule, morale support for Al Ameri and the rest of the crew throughout the mission.
Since leaving the capsule 3 weeks ago, Al-Amiri has undergone daily a number of medical and psychological examinations to ensure his health, all of which have been successful, and he will not undergo any tests upon returning home.
