The incidents that took place Friday, June 24, during an attempted group assault by illegal migrants once morest the metal fence in the province of Nador, near Melilla, result “from a premeditated plan”, revealed Thursday the government spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, during the weekly press briefing following the government council.
He added that this plan “has been organized very differently from the operations often carried out by immigrants trying to enter Melilla”.
The government official pointed out that the National Human Rights Council sent a delegation to Nador. “Research and legal inquiries are continuing in this regard,” he confirmed.
At least 23 people lost their lives when some 2,000 African migrants attempted to force their way into the Spanish enclave of Melilla from Moroccan territory.
The UN and independent UN experts have called for the opening of an “immediate and independent investigation”.
