After the leaks that took place in the cave of Al-Nafah regarding a month and a half ago, there is great secrecy regarding the current investigations. However, “Al-Modon” learned that some of the former detainees confessed that they were obtaining a “medical certificate” from doctors, to complete the processing of driver’s books.
The Nafaa file in the Al-Awzai police station witnessed the arrest of most of the employees of the Traffic Authority there. At that time, it turned out that senior employees were involved in “selling” driving licenses to people without them attending the utility and taking the driving test. And he told then regarding hundreds of driving notebooks that were granted in this way.
Al-Nafia’s stops led to the closure of the Ouzai Authority due to the arrest of employees, especially the car registration department, following the arrest of ten employees and the head of the center, B. A, for his involvement in the case of forged driving licenses. Preliminary investigations showed at the time that market books were granted even without the person requesting them going to the specialist doctor, to obtain a medical statement proving his eligibility and that he was free from diseases that prevented him from obtaining the book. Rather, medical certificates were purchased. With the expansion of investigations, the names of doctors who were giving medical statements appeared in a random manner. Al-Khatib arrested nine of them this evening.
According to the sources, there are doctors who gave brokers and commentators medical certificates without the presence of the concerned persons in return for financial compensation. However, there are doctors who did this in “good faith” for their acquaintances, as is usually the case in Lebanon, and not with the motive of selling health certificates.
The sources pointed out that the case reaching this direction will reshuffle the papers in the Nafaa case, especially in the event that the Doctors Syndicate decides to take escalatory steps to defend doctors, even if the behavior of some of them is unprofessional and does not take into account professional ethics.
