Police observer from the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS) Bambang Rukminto assessed that the arrest of five police officers involved in drug abuse in the Cimanggis area, Depok, West Java, deserved appreciation. According to him, with this arrest, supervision by the National Police over all institutions has been going well.
“Even though it still needs to be improved further so that the same violations are not repeated in the future,” said Bambang when contacted, Tuesday (23/4).
Bambang said that monitoring and enforcement efforts must also continue to be pushed into a patented system, so that there is no longer any room for personnel to commit violations.
“So, it’s not just a momentary breakthrough,” he added.
Bambang is of the view that drug abuse will never end because this crime can be committed by anyone, including members of the police. Moreover, the crime triangle, namely intention, opportunity and ability, which are factors in criminal behavior, also occurs within the police.
He said, with qualified capabilities, law enforcement authority and opportunities opened up due to a weak monitoring system, police officers who were previously not involved in drug crimes might change.

“Evil intentions are only a small factor that triggers crime. Therefore, preventive efforts to prevent crime by the police do not only apply to the community, but also have to be internal to the National Police organization as well,” he said.
It was previously known that five police officers were arrested by Polda Metro Jaya regarding alleged narcotics abuse in the Cimanggis area, Depok.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi said the five personnel were arrested on Saturday (20/4) last week. (Z-11)
